British Clubs Leagues – Express Your Interest in Participation
By ATTC Webmaster on Jun 18, 2026 with Comments 0
Dear Members,
Most members will know that the club (ATTC) competes each season in some of the British Clubs Leagues.
Given that the likely level of interest may well exceed available places in the various teams, we are inviting expressions of interest from members across the various formats.
Whilst there is no guarantee that the teams ATTC enters will be accepted, we aim to enter teams into:
- Senior British Clubs League (two teams)
- Men’s Veterans British Clubs League (three teams, although we may be limited to two)
- Women’s Veterans British Clubs League (one team)
- Boys’ Junior British Clubs League (one team)
- Girls’ Junior British Clubs League (one team, subject to player availability)
The various British Clubs Leagues are played over the season on designated weekends at venues to be advised, except that the veterans’ competitions are held over two weekends in Derby (typically February and October).
The competitions are national in nature and played in divisions with some of the best players in the UK competing. The standard, even in the lower divisions, is uniformly high and a significant step up from the highest division of local league play.
To ensure clarity and fairness in how ATTC teams are selected, captained, and, where appropriate, managed, the committee has established a set of internal guidelines. Please review these here before you throw your hat into the ring.
Key highlights from the guidelines include:
- Entry Fees: All British Clubs League teams’ entry fees are fully financed by ATTC
- Eligibility: Players must be current playing members of ATTC and hold an appropriate Table Tennis England (TTE) playing licence
- Selection Criteria: Selection is broadly based on competitive merit, alongside a demonstrated commitment to the club (such as regular practice attendance, membership longevity, or local league play)
How to Express Your Interest:
If you wish to be considered for selection for the upcoming season, please email (ASAP and in any event by 24 June, if at all possible) and include the following details:
- The competitions in which you are interested and your likely availability (i.e., all matches or, if not, an approximate proportion)
- Whether you have any interest in captaining or managing a team, bearing in mind the responsibilities expected of such individuals as set out in the internal guidelines
Please note: regrettably, not everyone who wants to play will likely be able to, but ATTC will always aim to enter and finance as many teams in the British Clubs League as possible, provided there are suitably qualified players and entries are accepted. Players from teams who competed last year and who, for instance, were promoted from their particular division can, of course, expect to be selected for “their” promoted team, assuming they wish to play.
Kind regards,
ATTC Committee
