Ashford Table Tennis Club

Schools Partnership Scheme

Ashford Table Tennis Club (ATTC), with the backing of Table Tennis England (TTE), are committed to getting more children playing table tennis.

In September 2001, to help meet this objective, the club created the ATTC Schools Partnership Scheme.

The ATTC Schools Partnership Scheme

The scheme provides funding for the provision of table tennis tables and equipment into local schools and clubs.

The table tennis equipment is provided on a loan basis with the expectancy of the school paying for an ATTC coach to run either lunchtime or after school clubs. The intention is that this arrangement does not cost the schools or clubs money, as the coaching fees are met by a small fee paid by the children attending.

The scheme is run by ATTC Coaching Officer, Graham Outrim.

All active coaches have to have an up to date DBS check (previously known as CRB check) and hold the appropriate TTE coaching qualifications.

Scheme Success

The scheme is now coaching around 80 children a week across the participating schools and clubs.

Eligible schools and clubs are usually in fairly close proximity to the club – particularly within the Spelthorne district council area.

The schools and clubs that are currently part of this partnership scheme and who currently run coaching sessions are:

  • St James (Secondary School), Ashford
  • Salesians (Secondary School – 2 sessions), Chertsey
  • The Magna Carta School (Secondary School School), Staines
  • Thomas Knyvett (Secondary School), Ashford
