National Junior League Results – 6th Oct 2018

The National Junior League (NJL) is a Table Tennis England competition aimed at grass root players (Under 18) looking to experience a competition early on in their career. It bridges what was a large gap from beginner to the Junior British League.

Last season 204 teams played in 15 centres all over the country on 4 days.

Ashford has 3 teams playing in NJL 2018-19 (same as 2017-18) across 3 divisions.

Our matches are played at Cippenham TTC in Slough on:

  • October 6th 2018
  • November 24th 2018
  • January 26th 2019
  • March 9th 2019

Day 1 of this season’s NJL at Cippenham saw a strong start from the three Ashford teams.

A squad that included 5 players new to the NJL achieved one of our most successful days at this level.

Of particular note was the performance in 5 set matches – of the 15 matches that went to the final set Ashford prevailed in 12 of these, showing a strong competitive edge when it matters.

Ashford A – Division 1

Next up was a convincing 8-1 win against Chiltern A.

Finally there was a 6-3 win against Reading A – their number one player, Rajaan Asghar, was the only opposition player to beat Ayush on the day.
