National Junior League Results – 24th Nov 2018

The National Junior League (NJL) is a Table Tennis England competition aimed at grass root players (Under 18) looking to experience a competition early on in their career. It bridges what was a large gap from beginner to the Junior British League.

Last season 204 teams played in 15 centres all over the country on 4 days.

Ashford has 3 teams playing in NJL 2018-19 (same as 2017-18) across 3 divisions.

Our matches are played at Cippenham TTC in Slough on:

  • October 6th 2018
  • November 24th 2018
  • January 26th 2019
  • March 9th 2019

Day 2 of this year’s NJL at Cippenham saw the three Ashford teams continue to progress well.

Round 2 finishes on Day 3 – Saturday 26th January, 2019.

Ashford A – Division 1

Team: Ayush Buche, Amol Apte, Artur Bose

Ashford A finished in 2nd place in Division 1.

A 5-4 win against Cippenham A was followed by a 3-6 defeat to the league leaders (Warren Spring A) – a team containing two cadet players in the top 20 national rankings.

The final match of the day was a 2-7 loss to Kidlington A, which was disappointing as they had beaten the same players 5-4 last month.

Ashford B – Division 2

Team: Rohan Raj, Sam Piesley, Amit Bose, Ashrith Behara

Ashford B finished in 3rd place in Division 2.

First up was a very talented young Cippenham B team – that finished in a 3-6 loss.

This was followed by 6-3 wins against Hillingdon A and newly promoted Chiltern B.

Ashrith had a very good day winning 8 out of 9 matches.

Ashford C – Division 4

Team: Parin Shah, Daniel Winders, Saharsh Didigan, Pranjal Aswathi

Ashford C finished top of Division 4 and were promoted to Division 3.

Wins against Chiltern E (7-2) and Chiltern D (6-3) ensured top spot comfortably with 6 points to spare.

The good form continued in Division 3 with an 8-1 win against Hillingdon B.

Parin with 100% and Pranjal with 83% led the way.
