Junior Handicap League (Sep 2016) – Final Round

The final round of the September version of the Junior Handicap (aka Friday night) League took place on Friday 30th September 2016.

In a close final week, Purple’s 3-2 win against Red was just enough for them to overtake Yellow – who lost narrowly, also 3-2, to Orange.

Congratulations to Rahul, Ryan and Dominic.

About the League

Following the success of the Ashford Table Tennis Club 2016 Junior (aka Friday Night) Handicap League held in May, we are running it again throughout September.

Mark Roper & Dave Wilson have kindly volunteered to organise the league, which will take place on five consecutive Fridays starting on Friday September 2nd, 2016, and finishing on Friday September 30th, 2016.

The league will will be played in teams of three and each team member will be allocated a handicap based on their ability.

Three tables will be reserved at ATTC and players should arrive for warm up from 7:15pm, with match play starting no later than 7:45pm!

Entry cost is £2 per person per night and players should give this to either Mark or Dave on arrival at ATTC.

For those not familiar with the handicap format, the rules are as follows:

  • Each week a team plays 4 singles and 1 doubles match
  • A team can play with either 2 or 3 players
  • Best of 3 games up to 21 points (at 20-20 next point wins the game)
  • Depending on your handicap and your opponents handicap, you get or give a number points start to your opponent in each game
  • Each individual match won is 1 point, the winning team at the end of the evening receives +2 points
